Set yourself up for success every morning with these life changing tips

The way you start your day has a huge effect on your mood, energy and what your entire day is going to be like. Many people are not aware of the power of thoughts and how we create our own reality by the way we think and behave. Being conscious about your thoughts and behaviour can determine how you feel physically, mentally and emotionally.

  • What do you think about when you wake up in the morning?
  • Is your mind filled with negative thoughts?
  • Are you usually stressed getting ready for work and short on time to make yourself a healthy breakfast?
  • Do you turn on the TV or radio and listen to the news that are usually filled with negativity, which will then put your mind in a state of fear and anxiety?

If this is you, it is time to change your daily habits for a happier, healthier and more positive life.

  1. Drink a big glass of water first thing. It rehydrates your body and brain, fires up your metabolism, flashes out toxins and regulates bowel movement.
  2. Make some lemon and ginger tea the night before ready for you to drink in the morning. Simply slice some ginger, add hot water and soak it overnight. Squeeze in some fresh lemon juice in the morning. You can also make a green juice (see my favourite recipe at the end of this article) It detoxifies the liver, boosts your immune system and alkalizes the body. Follow with a healthy and nutritious breakfast.
  3. Practise gratitude in the morning. This is such a powerful way to start the day in a positive state of mind and instantly puts you in a good mood. We all have challenges in our lives, but instead of focusing on the problems, think of 3 things each morning that you are truly grateful for. It can be your health, your family, friends, the birds singing outside, your job, having roof over your head… anything small or big. Make this your daily habit. Start thinking about this as soon as you open your eyes, while dressing up, brushing your teeth. Tell yourself every morning that it is going to be an amazing day!
  4. Don’t turn on the TV or radio. You do not want to fill your brain with all that negativity and rubbish. Instead, listen to an uplifting and inspiring podcast or stay quiet and think about your goals and aims you’d like to achieve that day and in your life.
  5. Try to squeeze in some exercise. I know you may have limited time in the morning, but even 5 minutes of dynamic stretches and some jumping jacks can really boost your energy and brain activity, gets oxygen flowing around the body and makes you feel ready to conquer the day. If you have more time, go out for a walk while listening to an inspiring podcast or audiobook. This way you exercise your body and learn at the same time. It is really worth to wake up a little bit earlier to make time for yourself in the morning.
  6. Plan out your day. Think about your goals and the most important tasks you need to complete that day and make sure you allocate time for them. Write everything down. Visualise yourself achieving your goals and most importantly believe that you can!

These are my top tips how to start your day positively and this is exactly what I personally do each morning. Believe me, when you start applying these into your daily routine, your life is going to change for the better.
